It's truly disheartening to observe the disproportionate value Filipinos place on Philippine celebrities compared to ordinary citizens with expertise in specific fields.
This disparity was starkly evident during a recent Senate hearing, where Senators like Jinggoy Estrada and Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa exhibited incompetence by being so mean against agent Jonathan Morales, despite his earnest efforts to provide valuable information and explanations.
What is more funny about the hearing is their display of contrasting behavior when they dealt with Maricel Soriano.
Of course due to the nature of his work, agent Morales may occasionally struggle to recall specific dates. But, when they questioned Maricel Soriano, their oozing confidence seemed to diminish. Nawala yong angas. Biglang bumait.
You see? Mas may value ang mga celebrities sa Pinas kahit wala naman yang mga degree halos, kaysa mga ordinaryong Pilipino na may pinag-aralan, may expertise, at iba pa.
Again, funny!
