Rod Maceda shares his MTRCB brouhaha |
He officially declares for the new world, in behalf of the vegan community, the words "pork" and "beef" now mean seitan texture and no longer that of dead animal flesh | Puppy Love OST "Ingna Ko" becomes a bonus song in Rod Maceda OBM album
PHILIPPINES - Bisaya Film and Music Artist Rod Maceda tells our Pagilas Insider Ms. Jonalyn Bacalso how he had a hard time with MTRCB during his Manila days as a writer, producer and director of Tagalog indie films and TV movie specials decades ago.
"It was a big lesson for me about the not so good stuff in the Manila film and entertainment industry. You can't have your film screened in commercial theaters unless you have DTI, BIR, Mayor's Permit, books and everything to be able to get to MTRCB. And I got an X-rated for my tv special for no reason. I still have that certificate. It was crazy.
So it's like you have to pay P3000 plus something for TV and P8000 for films. If your film doesn't pass the first review, you will have to file for a second review. And yes, you have to pay again. P3000 plus for TV and P8000 for a film. Imagine that. It was a crazy crazy time for an indie artist like me. Digital filmmakers today are very lucky to have movie streaming apps. And after ALDUB had exploded way back 2015 that tied the knot between social media and mainstream media, content creators took over. Still many Bisaya indie filmmakers would love to have ther movies screened in commercial theaters. I'd love to have mine but I believe it's just nostalgia and energy from old paradigm. It's a new world now. One can have it screened in an art theater without the need of MTRCB rating or better yet, have it pay per view in a movie streaming app or control it by yourself with your own private viewing channel. I did mine with Na Unhan back in 2021. It was successful."
The 42-year-old Bisaya actor/singer/songwriter/producer/writer/director and vegan food business owner also tells us that he has officially claimed the words pork and beef as seitan texture and no longer that of dead animal flesh. And that he doesn't need the approval of lexicons.
"I try not to overuse the word vegan. Because some people cringe. So I tell them I'm vegan and the food I sell is vegan without using the word vegan. It's the best way to normalize veganism and annihilate the dead animal farming industry because we need to stop pushing something in order to make the energy go downstream and reach manifestation.
So, yeah. I sell pork and beef."
Meanwhile, WCN is in search for young artists to be exclusive contract stars to play the lead roles Kristine and Ivan from the 2016 smash hit Bisaya TV series Puppy Love, which aired on CCTN Channel 47. This time, the new series focuses only on the story of Supreme Girl and Prince Charming episode for the whole series run and the plot is about Kristine Navarro leading a high school club that promotes veganism and self-esteem boost in order to eradicate the existence of bullying in the victim's observed reality.
Rod Maceda opined,
"It's a new world out there and it's time to have something new for the young generation from WCN. So many fans of that episode were left wanting for more. They wanted to see more of Kristine and Ivan. They still couldn't get enough of it and have been requesting over the years. So, here you go.
And I'm very excited not only because I'm the writer, producer and director of the series, but also the show is going to parade veganism. I'm really excited to share with the whole world about what I have in store for them. It's gonna mix veganism, antibullying and teenage romance.
You're gonna love it. I promise."
The OST of Puppy Love new series is still the song Ingna Ko but Rod Maceda version.
It was originally performed by Reycel Punay - champion of Sinulog 2016 Songwriting Festival. The song came out in 2014 and was played on many Bisaya FM radio stations.
Rod Maceda is the songwriter of Ingna Ko and had it arranged by the late music producer Quiel Silva during the hard lockdown in 2020. Quiel Silva was also the music producer of Reycel Punay version.

Rod Maceda on "Matteo and Sarah Guidicelli saying they've already been thinking about going full plant-based but they just need to make sure there is a strong support system and the power couple being compassionate to animals " | Rod Maceda joins the support cast of Puppy Love all new series as the supportive widower and vegan father of one of the lead characters in the show
VEGAN WORLD - Bisaya Bomba Films King and Bisaya Film and Music artist Rod Maceda goes:
"What a load of non-vegan sh8t. If your heart really has compassion toward animals, that is veganism. But if one says I'm compassionate to animals and yet checks up the situation if there is a strong support system in the market should they open a Plant-based food business, that is full of crap. Huwag na nila gamitin ang veganism kasi akala nila it's a bandwagon. Oo. I'm judging them. I can easily read people kahit hindi ko pa nakikita o nakakausap sa personal. I have asked for my mother's opinion about these two and she thinks Matteo and Sarah do not understand veganism and she feels these two are just going to use the Plant-based label for the wrong reasons. Sorry not sorry. People should understand that veganism is not about diet or business or your showbiz career.
It's all about understanding that non-human animals in this world are our brothers and sisters. They are not food for us humans. Matteo and Sarah don't get it. You can't be compassionate to animals and yet ask for a guaranteed strong support system for your soon to be plant-based food business.
I know it's business and these two need to have a feasibility study. Therefore, it's all business for them. Huwag na nila gamitin ang vegan world kung magbebenta pa rin sila ng bangkay ng hayop sa ibang market at nagki claim na they have compassion to animals. Pagpuyo mo Matteo and Sarah.
I don't give my vegan sh8t sa million fans nina Matteo at Sarah kung i-bash nila ako for being frank about this. You can't be compassionate to animals and still breed animals for sale or sell dead animals at your restaurants to cater to dead animal flesh-eating people if the strong support system you ask doesn't work out. There is no such thing as fully vegan or not fully vegan. It's only you're vegan or not at all. But since Matteo and Sarah are not vegans and are only having plant-based food business, I strongly suggest all vegans not to support their Plant-based food business. Kasi it defeats the entire purpose of veganism.
I hate to say this, but fading stars of the crumbling Manila Showbiz Industry should not use veganism to revive their showbiz career. Veganism is not about that. Please lang. Kahit na ba million followers meron sila if mali ang information na makukuha ng fans nila tungkol sa veganism, wala rin saysay yun. We don't need big superstars from Manila Showbiz to promote veganism. An ordinary Filipino on this flat earth can persuade other Filipinos to go vegan just by letting their hearts understand the cruelty thats happening in the animal-slaughtering industry."
Meanwhile, in the upcoming all new series of Puppy Love on WCN, Rod Maceda joins the support cast as the supportive vegan and widower father of one of the lead characters in the show. It's not a spoiler. The thing that's going to excite the audience is how Rod Maceda would make the veganism mixed with antibullying plot work in a teen romcom Bisaya drama series. Let's wait and see.
The search of WCN for young actors to play the lead characters Kristine and Prince Ivan continues. Rod Maceda guarantees that this show is going to make teenagers see the world differently just like what the 2016 drama series did 9 years ago to the Bisaya TV audience. It's a promise.
The all new Puppy Love drama series is based on the first episode of the smash hit Bisaya TV drama on CCTN Channel 47 way back 2016 titled Puppy Love: Supreme Girl and Prince Charming. Created, written, produced and directed by Rod Maceda.
